Sydney Observatory is perfectly positioned for glorious views of Sydney Harbour - and an ideal place from which to explore the charming and historic Rocks area surrounding it.
This first of our Observatory/Rocks walking tours introduces you to Sydney Observatory and its seminal place from 1858 in the development of astronomy, meteorology and timekeeping. From there it follows historical and scientific threads around Observatory Hill to Sydney Harbour Bridge and through the Rocks. Further tours will explore different themes around the area.
Contemporary and historical Powerhouse Museum photographs help you peel back the layers of time and provide different perspectives of the stops along the way
For locals and tourists alike, we hope that this tour will acquaint you with the area in ways that engage, surprise and delight you.
